The Voigtlander Nokton II 50 mm f/1.5 is a second, refreshed and modernized version of a legendary lens with unique flair and character. The lens combines high optical quality with the spirit of analog designs and exceptional work under light.
Classic 50mm focal length
The 50mm is a classic of the genre among fixed focal length lenses designed to work with full-frame sensors. Offering a 46.3° field of view similar to that seen by the human eye, it is one of the most popular focal lengths for portrait or reportage photography. The Voigtlander Nokton II 50 mm f/1.5 will also find its use in studio, product and even landscape photography, allowing you to crop out a portion of the observed landscape.
Bright even at night
The Voigtlander 50 mm f/1.5 lens is part of the Nokton line of super-bright lenses, allowing you to work even with negligible ambient light. A wide range of aperture settings from f/1.5 to f/16 and the ability to precisely change the aperture in 1/2 EV increments gives you full control over what is important in the frame. The paper depth of field achieved at large apertures allows the subject of the photo to be extracted from its surroundings, focusing all the viewer’s attention on it. When the aperture is wide open, the image is sharp in the center of the frame, and plastic on the sides. When the aperture is closed, sharpness appears across the entire width of the frame, but the blurs still retain their characteristic, picturesque look.
The Nokton II 50 mm f/1.5 draws on the design of its connoisseur-appreciated predecessor from the 1950s. The introduced improvements allowed to keep the absolutely unique analogue character of imaging, combining it with high precision and resolution of modern optics. 8 elements arranged in 6 groups, including one lens with aspherical lens on both sides, make it possible to create images with a very small depth of field, while maintaining large microcontrast and wonderful, rich colors. The perfectly functioning 12-blade aperture allows you to control the amount of transmitted light and makes the blurs obtained velvety smooth.
SC and MC coatings
The Voigtlander Nokton II 50 mm f/1.5 lens with Leica M mount is available in two optical versions SC and MC, differing in the amount of anti-reflective coatings used. The lenses in the MC version are coated with multiple layers of anti-reflective coatings, which significantly reduce flare and flare and leave your images with a natural color. The SC version, on the other hand, has a single coating, which makes working against the light much more surprising. Fewer layers also affect the color of the resulting photos, which are dominated by classic tones.
Vintage Line for everyone
The compact barrel of the Nokton II 50 mm is maintained in a classic design, referring to lenses from decades past. You can choose from three color versions: classic black, elegant satin silver and a real treat for lovers of photographic history – nickel version referring to the thirties of the twentieth century.
Quality without compromise
Superior build quality is a hallmark of all Voigtlander products. It is no different in the case of the second edition of the Nokton 50 mm f/1.5. Regardless of the version chosen, the entire lens barrel is made of metal, so the lens will maintain its accuracy for many years. The focus ring moves smoothly, but with a pleasant, necessary for precise work resistance.
Baggage Leica M
The lens is equipped with a Leica M type bayonet, designed for Leica and Voigtlander rangefinder cameras. Using the appropriate bayonet adapter, the Nokton II 50 mm f/1.5 can be mounted on any Canon R, Nikon Z, Sony E or Micro 4/3 mirrorless camera.
